Wake-upper: Congratulations to Ricky Davao for winning the Best Supporting Actor award at the just-concluded The International Filmmaker Festival in the UK, for Signos which bagged the Bronze for Best Foreign Film. Signos was directed by Aloy Adlawan.

Like giving birth to a first child.

That’s how Bibeth Orteza describes the writing of Dolphy’s biography, titled Hindi Ko Itong Narating Mag-Isa, which will be launched en grande at the NBC Tent at The Fort sometime next week. The invitation is also in behalf of the Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation which provides education for the underprivileged.

"The book was conceptualized as early as four years ago," said Eric Quizon, one of Dolphy’s 18 children by six (I hope I got the number right) women, none of whom he married. "It’s our gift to Daddy on his 80th birthday (July 25)."

The tell-all book leaves no stone unturned. Except for one who’s deceased and Alma Moreno who gave Bibeth and company a runaround, all the women Dolphy has loved before were interviewed - including Lotis Key, now married to a basketball player and living in the States; Pilar Pilapil, now married to a pastor; and his current love, Zsa Zsa Padilla - and also all his children (except Freddie, deceased).

You wonder, does Dolphy clear the "bombilya" matter that has enhanced his macho image?

"Find out in the book," Eric teased.

Aiko wins PPO vs Martin

Henceforth, Martin Jickain can’t be within 1,000 meters away from his estranged wife, Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez, who got the nod of a QC court on her petition for a PPO (Permanernt Protection Order).

"But I’m not denying him his visitation rights to our daughter Marthena," clarified Aiko who, like Martin, has beautifully moved on after their headline-making break-up last year. Aiko is said to be "sweet" with Bulacan, Bulacan, Vice Mayor Patrick Meneses while Martin has also found a new love.

Briefly noted

* The English-Filipino band Firefalldown - composed of Jon Blaylock (vocalist, guitar), Andrew Hodgson (drums) and Joel Sablayan (bass) - emerged among the regional semi-finalists in the Surface Unsigned Festival, the only live-music event that attracts unsigned bands to the attention of the UK music industry, with more than 4,000 bands from southern England competing this year. Formed in UK a year ago, Firefalldown will release a single this month to pave the way for their forthcoming Metro Manila tour.

* American actor Soren Fulton (photo) is arriving on July 21 to help drum up for the projects of the American Leprosy Mission (ALM), accompanied by ALM president Christopher Doyle. Now 17, Fulton has been donating money to ALM since he was nine. He will visit the ALM and PLM (Philippine Leprosy Mission) in Cebu.
